IEA SHC Task 48 Workshop “Technologies for solar cooling in tropical climates” & guided tour of world’s largest solar cooling System

These Workshop and Visit were jointly organized by the SOLID company, Nanyang University and the Austrian Embassy. Nearly 60 persons took part to the Workshop.

Solar thermal cooling being a very promising technology for tropical climates like in South East Asia, first systems both with absorption chillers and desiccant systems were realized in Singapore, among them the world’s biggest solar thermal cooling system at the Tampines Campus of United World College of South East Asia.

This event was organized to permit a visit of the College installation followed by a specific workshop with the intensive participation of Task 48 experts. Main topics of the Singapore workshop:

  • Absorption chilling
  • Desiccant technologies
  • Heat rejection
